with a new better resin eye! They are

| I really must share with you all an experience! When I was making my latest sculpture, I was searching for eyes for her. The problem was, that the choices out there are very few; Taxidermy supplies, or Doll eyes from various companies. To no great avail, I settled for this custom Doll eye company out of Arizona. There prices were very high...up to $50+ dollars a PAIR!!! I was aghast by the sticker shock! Of course, the ones I was interested in were those very pricey eyes. I settled for a lesser grade, and placed my order...Over a month later, I finally received them. I was sorely disappointed! First off, I misunderstood their measurement system. I was under the impression that the size was measured by the Iris, not the whites. So, they turned out to be way too small. Second, one of the pairs had surface defects. Lastly, the eyes certainly didn't look like the picture on the website...Quite frankly, they looked like cheap mass produced foreign product. Ugh!!! Anyway, I did a little R&D in my studio, and came up with a genius solution! I made My own! It took some time, and failures before I got it right, But the reward is great! I used Sharpies on hologram paper backing, punched holes for the pupils, and stuck the paper to some black construction paper, covered the iris in Casting Resin...And Whoila!!!! My own very custom eyes! The resin even withstands multiple bakings at polymer clay specs! I was ecstatic! Now, I would like to share them with everyone else. So I will include custom eyes for sale here as well. (to save other artists the hassles I went through) Stay in touch, for more details in the near future. |
